User Reviews: Wellness Resource Center is truly the best place you could send someone who’s addicted to drugs. My brother went there last year and he’s changed so much in that time. He went from shooting heroin to helping people get off heroin. Went from manipulating my mom out of money or just stealing money from our parents to working hard to get them paid back. He hasn’t paid them back completely but he sends them money from every paycheck he gets and he’s proud of the fact that he’s able to do it. He’s taken so much from my parents that to see him trying so hard to make up for it is amazing. I had stopped talking to him 2 years before he went to Wellness Resource Center. I was just sick of watching him ruin his life and when he stole a bunch of money from our parents I was just done. He started writing me letters when he got out detox at Wellness Resource Center. I was worried the first time I got one of his letters because every rehab he’s gone to before going to Wellness Resource Center all he did was complain about them. He hated being at them or he hated the people or the staff weren’t nice, it was always something and so I was expecting the same thing from him this time. However, I could tell that Wellness Resource Center was different for him. He told me that the detox he went through wasn’t too bad and that the detox staff really helped him get through it fairly comfortably. He loved the staff there and throughout his programs the letters continued to praise the program and the people working there. While he was there he told me that he had decided that he wanted to do the same thing with his life. He wanted to work there and help people get off drugs. That was a shock for me as I didn’t think he’d ever be that intent on helping others. He got to choose the program he did at Wellness Resource Center. He talked with his counselor about it of course the decision of how he was going to help himself get off drugs was ultimately up to him and that made a huge difference for him. He told me that when he decided on the program he was going to do was when he made the decision to really do that program and get sober for good. He started playing the guitar again. He was always playing when we were growing up but he sold his guitar to get heroin and so stopped playing. They have a music room at Wellness Resource Center where he spent most of his free time. By the time my brother finished his program we were talking on the phone again and I was so happy to have my brother back in my life. He is back at Wellness Resource Center working and he’s doing amazing. I don’t worry about him so much anymore and I know that he’s doing something he loves. It’s been such a great year with my brother and just knowing that he’s going to continue to do good is pretty awesome.

Since leaving Gulf Breeze Recovery I’ve found a happiness and peace in my life that is better than the best drink I ever had, or drug I ever used. I thought life without using would be dull and ordinary and couldn’t imagine not having the next “high” to look forward to if I stopped all my use. Truth is, using IS fun and exciting. When Gulf Breeze Recovery taught me that every feeling and experience I have in my life comes from my own ability to create with my own thinking, I was caught off guard too. How could that be I’m 39 years old and have lived my whole life believing that all the events and circumstances outside of me determined how I felt, what kind of day I had, who was to blame, what mood I was in, and how happy or unhappy I was. How dare they tell ME that I’ve been doing this to myself all these years! How dare they tell me that I’m in control of how I feel about……..wait a minute…..I’m in control of how I feel and all of my experiences in life ……..And there it was….the truth that had been in front of me my whole life, so simple, yet so elusive. I was supposed to be looking inside for every answer for myself. It all starts there. What an insight…what a liberating discovery…..what an Inside/Out Revolution for me.Since my stay at Gulf Breeze Recovery, my life is not back to the way it was before my drug use….it’s way better. Within just a few short months, I was back in good with my family, my friendships were restored, and I’m enjoying my life every moment with a new set of eyes to view my world with. See, my addiction was just a symptom of a bigger problem. Some people have eating disorders, some people have gambling issues, some people have sex addictions, and some people use their intelligence to demean or criticize others to make themselves temporarily feel better. The problem is, just like drug use, these efforts to “cover up” our real issues are only a temporary false sense of well being. But, the truth to every "so called” addiction is a fundamental misunderstanding of how our brains and bodies work together to create our experience in life. Gulf Breeze Recovery helped me to uncover a true sense of well being that has no end, as well as an understanding of life for me that was there the whole time. My life will never be the same. There’s no unknowing what I know now and I am so grateful to their management and staff for helping me find the most important self discovery that anyone can have.Now, I am at the mercy of nothing outside of myself for my daily adventures in life. Nothing happens “to me” anymore. Things just happen and I determine how I want to feel about them which is no longer filled with a roller coaster of emotions, only an acceptance of every event for what it is….and I’m just along for the ride. So, I figure……why not make it a playground It’s way more fun than a Wall.

User Reviews: When someone first comes into a place ..they are going to try to bull...you every way they did when they were on the street. And if someone wanted to just talk...the girls would all sit around and would listen and they all pretty much helped each other...That was what I was taught there..You could tell after awhile who was going to stay or go..but I got to where I would sit up all night and get them to tell me what they wanted most in life beside the drug or the alcohol..and I would ask them to write in a journal about their thoughts and feelings and share with their counselor what they had shared with me..I didn't come from the back ground a lot of them did...but still I didn't think I was better than anyone. I was still an addict. I found that a lot of the girls just wanted to feel good about themselves and to feel respected....I didn't have any kind of training ..I just felt from the heart..I was raised with love and respect and a lot of those girls didn't have a good life at all..but I didn't feel sorry for them. I told them they could be anything they wanted or they could be a drug addict, they had choices...but they have to believe they are worth more than they have been shown.. I think you can be all tough and shove stuff down their throat but listening and actually giving a crap is what is more empowering than all that stuff some learn from a book...It worked for me and a lot of the girls...but some just didn't ever get it. The counselors were awesome and knew their stuff...and they actually cared about what they were doing.. It wasn't a fancy place on the beach...but it was clean and the food was good ..and we only had one problem the whole time I was there...They (the courts) put a suicidal girl in the facility...and she self-injured while there. Not only did I beat my addictions...I found the person in me that I needed to be.

I would recommend the program to anybody struggling with substance abuse or addiction. The staff was very welcoming and I became very close to all of my fellow patients. User Reviews: This facility is great from start to finish. The staff is top notch. I cannot say enough about this program. My son had been to three other programs with no luck they were very shady and lied. When I took my son to Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches I was never so excited. He loves the program, the staff, and the facility. He will be graduating soon! His case manager has been wonderful. Families are kept informed and can make visits. If someone you know needs help this is the right place.
