Intensive Recovery Program

18 years of age or older; and
Able to attend at least 12 hours per week for eight weeks; and
Criteria is met for the definition of chemical substance abuse, as detailed in the DSM IV, or the most current revision of the diagnostic and statistical manual for professional practitioners; in a self-help fellowship; and
Client is coherent, rational, and oriented for treatment; and
Client is able to comprehend and understand the materials presented; and
Client is able to participate in the rehabilitation/treatment process; and
There is documentation that the client expresses an interest to work toward rehabilitation/treatment goals
The Intensive Program consists of individual and family counseling along with education four times per week three hours each session. Group counseling sessions give the opportunity to learn to express feelings in a healthy, productive manner and to give and receive constructive, supportive feedback on dealing with daily issues of sobriety and recovery. One hour of individual counseling per week is provided.
Supportive (Continuing Care) Program
Admission Criteria
18 years of age or older; and
Client must not be in need of medically supervised detoxification; and
Not in need of intensive primary care, based on clinical evaluation; or
Are in early stages of disease process and require only short-term treatment and education; or
Have received other services (such as inpatient or intensive outpatient) and in need of continuing care to maintain recovery; or
Would benefit from short term motivational counseling and referral into more intensive treatment
A Brief Description
This program provides a three hour education and group counseling session once a week, with individual counseling a minimum of once per month. In addition to the scheduled sessions, other services can be provided by substance abuse staff as determined by individual client need and their treatment plan.
WomanSpirit
Admission Criteria
18 years of age or older; and
Of childbearing age; or
Women with dependent children; or
Adult, 18 years of age or older with a DSMIV diagnosis of chemical abuse or dependency
A Brief Description
WomanSpirit Treatment and Wrap Around Services for their children is an eight week intensive outpatient program. It contains all the components of the other intensive program in addition to specialized parenting and treatment issues specific to women.
The client’s treatment plan is designed to treat the family as a unit. Education on drug awareness and prevention of drug use is provided for all the family members with special attention to the needs of the children.
WomanSpirit clients are required to attend four – four hour group sessions per week. One hour is devoted to parenting issues, one hour focuses on alcohol/drug abuse issues, and the final two hours are for group sessions. Transportation and childcare are provided it needed.
Dual Recovery
Admission Criteria
Adult, at least 18 ages or over;
DSMIV diagnosis of substance abuse disorder; and
Diagnosis of major mental illness
A Brief Description
Provides inter-agency coordination of services for those individuals with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health diagnosis. This is accomplished by augmenting existing services while removing barriers that hinder clients’ access to services among the various service organizations contracted for both mental health and chemical dependency treatment. This allows for placement of the dually diagnosed in a supportive network of services and treatment that meets their specific needs.
Services include outreach, crisis intervention, early intervention, medication management, inpatient/residential referrals, outpatient day or evening treatment, family and peer support, child care referral, transportation, emergency and long term housing, case coordination, and relapse prevention.
ransitional Housing Program
Admission Criteria
Member of TXMHMR defined priority population;
Meet Federal definition of homelessness; and
Homeless for 2 to 3 months

The Transitional Housing Program is a federally funded program designed to provide residential services to adult homeless mentally ill and dually diagnosed individuals to transition to independent living.
Permanent Housing Program
Admission Criteria
Member of TXMHMR defined priority population;
Meet Federal definition of homelessness
A Brief Description
The Permanent Housing Program is a federally funded program designed to assist individuals facing a return to homelessness after their PATH subsidy ends. This program will continue to subsidize portions of the individual’s housing needs, with the individual contributing on a sliding scale basis.
