Provider Description

The mission of the Avalon-Carver Community Center is to care for the physical, mental and spiritual needs of individuals and families in south central Los Angeles whose lives have been severely disrupted by the use of alcohol and other addictive substances. It hopes to change the attitudes and negative behaviors of it’s clients for the purpose of returning them to productive and satisfying roles within the community. The Center hopes to effect these changes by offering a full range of direct and supportive services that will holistically address the needs of clients, their families and the community at large. Avalon Carver Community Center has been successful in implementing programs geared to empower residents, programs offering hope and opportunity for change. The agency has been extremely successful in the delivery of alcohol and substance abuse counseling, other counseling and education programs, intervention with school age children, training, job preparation, information and referral, food and shelter programming, work with welfare recipients and their families, gang intervention, gang violence and related services.
